As it appears... I am a mentor.
It's funny, because in my eyes (and most likely in the eyes of many) I'm nowhere near good... I'm probably just around ok.
But as it appears, I have become a mentor... To a few very good friends. One even went as far as to say that I have inspired him. It's a great feeling being able to share what very little I know.
I have to say that I'm very proud of these people. Of their progress and how much they have grown in the past few months. And I'm proud not because I "mentored" them, because, really, I don't think I did much. It was all them. Wherever they are and whatever they've achieved they did it all on their own --- which is why I'm so proud of them. I may have answered some of their questions, but in the end the choice was all theirs. When to click, what to click, what settings to click on. Those were their choices. They did it on their own.
People like me have worked through a decade to get to where I am which is not really anywhere. So, to see young photographers (young in the trade.), I get very excited. Especially, when I am able to witness the development. It's such an awesome sight. Seeing someone grow in the art that I love so much. Seeing anyone grow... Even people that I watch silently in the shadows... People that I don't know that I just happen to see online.
Having said that, it's nice how these now AMAZING photographers regard me as their mentor. It gives me that warm fuzzy feeling inside.
Being a mentor is a great thing...
Which is why, tonight, I was so surprised to hear about how some people are reluctant to share anything, because really it's rewarding. I hope that some day these people that I hear about would be able to get over themselves and remember that just like Mr. Parker said, "With great power comes great responsibility".
It's funny how my life really goes around in a big circle. How everything sort of ties into everything else... I'm inclined to think that my life is just like Sex and The City ala Truman Show. And this is me doing a Carrie Bradshaw at the end of the show.
LOL.
Speaking of Carrie Bradshaw... There was one episode of Sex and the City that sticks out... One where she eats a cupcake with the redhead. And yeah, so, I've been thinking of cupcakes for a couple of days now. I'm hoping that I'll get to pass by Tavola this weekend. I need fondant cutters. :) Hihi.
For those who know, ssshhh now. For those who don't, wait for it.
Anyway, enough thoughts... This snippet has grown into a snappet. LOL.
I'm excited for tomorrow night. Can't wait.
