Wahehe! OO nga. hehe.. sa ngayon and even when the first camera was invented, anything is possible. Like in most books or even guides, there is a section that says, mastering "Deceptive Angles". sa title pa lang ng technique yan na. Obviously even without editing, pwede ma control ang angle to tell or show something different sa pictures. So saying that Film is real and Digital is not has really no basis. Pag inedit pa, mas malaki ang possibility na iba ang ipakita ng picture. When we say picture, its usually not to show something real, but to represent something that may not even be real on a 2D plane screen or perhaps paper. When it gets processed - digital or not, the deviation from the real thing gets even heavier. So which is which? Going up a mountain or crawling on the ground and acting like a megastar. You can even catch a guy in a really bad time and make him look like he went straight to hell and back. LoL
ReplyDeleteme punto sa isang banda kaya nga prespective tawag dun..pero bro masasabi ko na sa digital magbinibigyan ka ng rason para magsinungaling sa iyong kuha..malaki ang pagkakaiba ng pagkokompose sa finder at post peossesing..sama wag natin kalimutan yan..
ReplyDeleteHi there ebbe. I'm not saying that if its digital, and post processed, its not real just because it was post processed. And if its composed using the viewfinder, we can't say if its the real thing either. My point was not about composition, but presentation. That's exactly what i mean by intention. If I post process a red flower to be red just because the current technology has limitations renders the flower blue, then that makes it real. If I compose a picture with the viewfinder with whatever camera, digital or not, and I intend to show everybody that this is the real thing, I better show something that has utmost fidelity to the real thing. Otherwise, parts of it become different because of the angle of how I took it. Anyway, its not a bad thing, it takes skill to compose in any camera.
ReplyDeleteAs for presenting truth in photojournalism, color is one factor, but we care less about true color and tonality with such photos, the intention is to present the event as it happened. So it becomes not about the color rendition and exposure, but about the power of capturing the feeling at that decisive moment in time.
I agree, composition and post processing are totally different things. But one is not lower than the other. They both require dedication and skill. Both are in a sense technical but still require artistry and creativeness - and serve different, but complimenting purposes.
good naman sabi ko nga nauna na nakikiisa ako sa ilang punto mo..ipinaalala ko lang na may aspeto kasi sa digital na manghihikayat sa iyo na ibahin pa ang sanang payak na kuha..malamang nakakaisa tayo sa usaping ang kamera ay isang bagay lang na ginagamit natin para kumuha ng litrato batay sa ating kagustuhan..tingin ko lahat ng kuha ay mula sa maniobra at prespiktiba ng kumukuha..hindi ito matatangi pero ang payak na kuha ay tulad lang ng isang salita.yaman din lang na kumha ka ng salita mula sa gawa ni hcb..sya rin nagsabing ang bawat kuha ay isang salita kaiba sa kaiba sa pagsasaayos nita para bumuo ng isang talata...totoo wala sa pagiging digital at film yan...dot get me wrong gusto ko rin magdigi minsan...pero may malalim na kaibahan ito na di natin mararamdaman kung di natin susubukan...
ReplyDeletesa simpleng salita ang photog ay batay sa sariling pananaw ng kumukuha,sariling interpritasyon at pagpapahayag..ang katotohanan marahil ang pilit na inaabot ng isang photog..sa tamang paraan,karanasan, gamit at oryentasyon..masalimuot ang daan,

ReplyDeletesalamat sa paliwanang ebb. muntik ko na di maintindihan di kse ako marunong talaga mag tagalog. Hindi sa ayaw ko maging pinoy, pero yan ang totoo, medyo mahina lang talaga ako sa tagalog. Bisaya kse ako, pero pinagsikapan ko din na makuha. and maganda naman ang mga punto mo at salamat sa pagpaliwanag. Makakatulong din ito sa iba pang babasa dito. =)
