So, here are the -
TopTen Stuff That I Would Like To Be Able To Finish Up
1. Ballet
I quit because the stockings were hella itchy. LOL. What? I was 4 years old. Itchy stockings were a huge tragedy.
2. Piano
I was never able to pursue this seriously... My mom taught me some and I took lessons with a neighbor before I left the Philippines, then I did some self learning for a little bit, but I never really sat down and did me some serious pee-yah-nah. Shame.
3. Trumpet
I started this when I was in Middle School in Vienna. I had to stop when we left for Oman. We tried real hard to find a tutor and we did, but we couldn't find a trumpet. Went home to the Philippines, found a trumpet, but couldn't find an instructor... Got here, found a trumpet, but the instructor is just hella ... I don't even know how to describe him. LOL. Poke around old blog posts, you'll find him... With a picture, too.
4. Mitch
I started my first screenplay when I was in the Philippines. But I was never able to finish it... Life got in the way. The protagonist was a girl called Mitch. She had three brothers, all with a different personality. At the time that I started, I had the whole movie clear in my mind... It was going to be the first of its kind and would appeal to the tweener and the teenybopper demographic.
What? Clueless made Alicia. Mean Girls made Lindsay and so on and so forth.
It was perfect...
Sadly, perfection was never completed.
5. Sentiments
I went through this tortured poet phase... Where all I would write are poems. I guess all writers have to start somewhere, this was where I started - poems. And so after not having written anything since High School, I started writing again... So much so, that I compiled a collection of poems and very seriously pursued getting it published privately. My mom new a printing press that would print for cheaps and my dad had contacts in various bookstores, the situations were more than perfect.
...The book was all ready to be printed, but I couldn't stop editting and editting it, until I scratched the whole thing, EVEN THE TITLE, and now, still nothing.
6. The Brown Slipper
The Brown Slipper was a book I started right after I arrived in Doha. The current situation and all the funny little happenings were interesting enough for me to conjure a modern day fairytale.
I finished the Prologue and Chapter 1 (almost). ...And never touched it again.
7. The Fall
During the same time that I was writing The Brown Slipper, I started writing The Fall. A more dark and intense novel, a contrast to the lightness and romance of The Brown Slipper. Halfway through the first chapter, I couldn't decide whether to write in English or Tagalog, so I ended up with two versions. After reading both versions, I decided that instead of writing the story as a novel, a screenplay would probably be the best way to go.
...I've yet to do that.
8. Train Rides
This was a more personal project... That I still haven't figured out how to write.
...Until. Now.
9. Lucky Ducks
I had this fantastic idea of doing a series of photographs with the ducks. Never got to it.
...Maybe next year.
10. The High Life
This was a coffee table book that I planned last year. It's a little bold. A lot bold actually. And I know that it could be great... Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to finish it.
I have some parts of it. And I've got the general idea of how the write-up should be... But the rest of the pictures have yet to be taken. Sigh.
There you have it... My TopTen. I'm sure that aside from the ten listed above, I've still got a whole lot more projects that I've forgotten to mention. Ehhh... But what can you do? ...Oh well.
What projects have you started that are now on your backburners?
Wow! Ang dami ng projects mo girl! Excited ako sa The High Life. =) Goodluck, sana magka time ka na. Mwah!
