Chasing Waves

"If you want to be given everything... Give everything up."

For the past few days, I've been paying visits to the beach down the road from where I live. I'm thankful that I now have the time to do that. I've been living here for almost two years now and I have never had enough time to just walk around and enjoy the surroundings.

I walked down the shore and watched the waves come to land, I saw how with each wave something new was brought, but at the same time something old was taken away. The shore was peppered with seashells of different colors and sizes, however whenever I had the urge to pick up one that I wanted, a wave would come and take it away. My first instinct was to chase the wave that took my shell and I almost did at one point, but I ended up drenched from the knees down.

Sometimes, I would see a beautiful seashell from a distance and should I happen to be faster than the waves, I would bend down to pick it up, but when I'd turn it over, I would see that it wasn't as beautiful as I thought.

I guess with these things, it's about being there at the right time.

Yesterday, I think, I got it right.

I can't wait to see the new things that the waves of life will bring me.
And I can't wait to have the perfect seashell. I just have to get my timing right, I guess.
